TCEQ - 2026 Industrial Stormwater Permit Renewal: What Facilities Must Do Now

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has renewed the TPDES Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP), No. TXR050000, effective August 14, 2026, establishing the requirements for industrial facilities whose stormwater runoff may discharge to creeks, storm drains, or other surface waters.

Facilities engaged in regulated industrial activities—including manufacturing, processing, material storage, waste handling, and mining—should confirm whether coverage is required and ensure controls are in place to prevent pollutants from entering stormwater runoff. Covered facilities may be required to maintain a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3), perform inspections and monitoring, and submit required reports.

Existing permit holders must renew their authorization through TCEQ’s STEERS/ePermits portal by November 12, 2026
