MCE Workshop: Excavation and Trench Safety - 11 June 2026 (MCE-06112026)

Description

Trenching and excavation work presents serious hazards to all workers involved. Cave-ins pose the greatest risk and are more likely than some other excavation-related incidents to result in worker fatalities. This course will address key steps towards preventing or greatly reducing the risk of cave-ins and other excavation related events. We will walk through the different techniques for classifying and testing soils, discuss excavation requirements, and identify protective measures recognized by OSHA. We will wrap up the training by identifying additional hazards and mitigative practices.
